Use your Amazon account for IMDb and IMDbPro

Updated 24-September-2025

This article explains how IMDb and IMDbPro are adding Amazon's account system and how to sign in depending on your account type. If you already use "Sign in with Amazon" to access IMDb, keep signing in the same way.

Contents

What's new

  • New IMDb accounts use Amazon to sign in.
  • IMDb now uses Amazon's account system for sign-in and new account creation.

What isn't changing

  • Existing IMDb accounts remain active. Keep signing in with your IMDb email and password. If you previously used Amazon, Google, or Apple to sign in to IMDb, you'll still have that option.
  • Your IMDb data stays with you - ratings, Watchlist, reviews, contribution history, and all other data on your IMDb account continue to be available to you.

Why we're making this update

  • Consistency: The same sign-in and account across Amazon, IMDb and IMDbPro.
  • Simplicity: Fewer credentials to manage; you can use your existing Amazon account.

Account sign-in options

Depending on your account type, you might see the following messages when signing in:

  • "Account update": If your IMDb account is already linked to an Amazon account, your sign-in experience stays the same. Just click "Continue" to sign in with your Amazon account.

Use your Amazon account to continue screen

  • "You already have an IMDb account": Simply sign in to your existing IMDb account. There is no need to create a new account.
  • "No matching IMDb account found": There isn't an IMDb account associated with that email address or mobile number. You can sign in with your Amazon account or try signing in with another IMDb account.
  • "Continue not signed in": Use IMDb without signing in. Personalized features including ratings, Watchlist, and more require you to sign in.

Account management

  • If you sign in with Amazon on IMDb, manage your account email, mobile number, and password on Amazon (with Two-Step Verification) by visiting the Amazon account settings page: Amazon.com > Account & Lists > Account > Login & security.
  • If you sign in with IMDb, manage your account email and password by visiting the IMDb account settings page.
  • If you use your Amazon account to sign in to IMDb, deleting your Amazon account also deletes your IMDb and IMDbPro accounts, and all associated data. This includes any active IMDbPro memberships.
