Manage the display of your alternate name(s)

IMDbPro members (IMDbPro Standard Subscription and IMDbPro Free Subscription) with a claimed name page can manage the display of any alternate names using the Edit your page button located at the top of their IMDbPro page.

  • See video on Manage your personal details for additional information on managing the display of your birth name, alternate name(s), and personal details.

For members who choose not to display their alternate names, the IMDb and IMDbPro title pages for productions they worked on will list their professional name with "Credited as a different name" to reflect that this information differs from the on-screen credits.

You can also find the Performer profile & credentials section under the About tab:

  1. Go to your IMDbPro page
  2. Select the Edit your page button
  3. Select Performer profile & credentials
  4. Select Credited Alternate Names
  5. Select your display settings from the following
    • Displayed
    • Not Displayed
      • If you select Not Displayed, your credit will be displayed using a “Credited as a different name” label and the name will not be searchable
  6. Select Save

(*) What is an alternate name? When a person has been credited in on-screen credits with a name other than the one they are now primarily known as, we record that name next to the credit itself on IMDb title pages. For example, Courtney Cox was once billed as Courtney Cox-Arquette on titles in which she appeared while married to David Arquette. On those IMDb title pages, her credits are shown "(as Courtney Cox-Arquette)" to indicate how her name is listed in the actual on-screen main or end titles. The Alternate Names field shown on a person's name page is automatically derived from these credited as attributes, and include all variations of a person's name that have been used at least once in on-screen credits. They may include pseudonyms, stage names, former or maiden names and even spelling variations.

Note that IMDb’s policies will continue to evolve based on customer feedback.
