Manage your primary professions

Adding your preferred primary profession(s) helps you get discovered in the industry. It also depicts what you want your known for profession to be on your page in IMDb and IMDbPro, so decision makers in the industry can find you and reach out to you or your reps for potential opportunities or your fans can learn about your preferred profession.

Your primary profession selection orders your filmography display in IMDb (desktop) accordingly, thereby displaying your credits based on your primary professions first followed by all other professions.

To edit and set your profession information, go directly to the primary profession control page.

To do this, click the edit pencil icon on your claimed name page next to your profession(s). From here, select “Use your choices” and tap on the slot you want to update.

Now select the profession from the options provided and save. If you want to go back to IMDb generated professions, simply select “Let IMDb decide” and save.

If you would like to select fewer than three professions, you can choose the “None“ option for that profession slot.

You can choose from any of the listed profession(s) regardless of what is represented in your filmography. This also includes uncredited professions (e.g., Talent Manager, Executive, Music Artist, Podcaster).

No, reps aren't able to update your profession through shared editing.

Yes. You'll need to claim your name page to set / manage your professions.

If you cancel your membership, the system-generated profession information will be displayed on your page.

If you renew your IMDbPro membership within 12 months of cancellation, your last saved professions will be restored and displayed again.

The navigation/predictive search displays profession based on your Known For listing.
