What is IMDb TV?

IMDb TV is a free, ad-supported streaming video channel available in the United States on the IMDb app, the IMDb website via laptop or personal computer, the Amazon Prime Video app and Amazon Fire TV devices.

IMDb TV enables customers to watch hit TV shows, top Hollywood hits, and more without purchasing a subscription.

Titles depicted in images may not currently be available on IMDb TV.


How do I access IMDb TV?

If you are in the US, you can instantly stream IMDb TV titles from your IMDb app via the IMDb TV page, from your laptop or personal computer's web browser via the IMDb TV page, and from the Amazon Prime Video app and all Amazon Fire TV devices via the IMDb TV channel. 

IMDb TV is currently available on devices that support ad-supported channels

IMDb TV content is currently only available when streaming from within the United States and US territories. If you are currently located within the United States or a US territory and are unable to stream IMDb TV content, please contact Prime Video support.


How do I find IMDb TV titles on IMDb?

IMDb TV titles are listed on the IMDb TV page, where you will see a carousel of featured titles that are available to stream. Additionally, all IMDb TV title pages will have an option to "Watch Free on IMDb TV". You can also search for IMDb TV titles via the IMDb Advanced Title Search on the IMDb app or desktop website using the "IMDb TV (US Only)" option in the Instant Watch Options section, and find IMDb TV titles in your Watchlist or other lists on IMDb app, mobile website, or desktop website using the Ways to Watch refine options (Ways to Watch refine option not available for custom lists via IMDb mobile website at this time).

How will I know if titles I'm interested in become available on IMDb TV?

All IMDb TV title pages on IMDb will have an option to "Watch Free on IMDb TV". Additionally, you can find IMDb TV titles in your Watchlist or other lists on IMDb app, mobile website, or desktop website using the Ways to Watch refine options (Ways to Watch refine option not available for custom lists via IMDb mobile website at this time). The selection of titles included with IMDb TV is always changing, and titles you're interested in might become available in the future. We're constantly working to improve our catalog to ensure that customers have access to the best selection of movies and TV shows possible.


Do I need to login every time I want to watch an IMDb TV title?

No. If you are logged in with your IMDb credentials, you will be able to start playback immediately when you attempt to stream TV titles upon subsequent visits.


Do my Parental Control settings from my Amazon.com account work on IMDb?

No, unfortunately we are currently unable to honor viewing restrictions and PIN settings that have been set in your Amazon account, on IMDb desktop. However, these settings are recognized on TV content, via Fire TV devices and other platforms. To learn more, please visit the Prime Video Parental Controls page.


Why am I seeing ads?

IMDb TV is a free collection of titles available to all customers, and are supported by advertising. These advertisements cannot be skipped.


I don't want to see ads. How can I watch the video without ads?

IMDb TV titles are not available to purchase via IMDb TV. If the title is available for rent or purchase on Amazon Prime Video, you can rent or purchase the title to stream without ads.


Can I purchase/download IMDb TV titles?

No, titles cannot be purchased or downloaded to watch offline via IMDb TV. If the title is available for rent or purchase on Amazon Prime Video, you can rent or purchase the title to download to watch offline on compatible devices.


I'm having trouble with playback for an IMDb TV title.

If you're experiencing playback issues with IMDb TV via the Amazon Prime Video app or website or an Amazon Fire TV device, please contact Prime Video support directly for further assistance.

If you're experiencing playback issues with IMDb TV via the IMDb app, please ensure you have installed the latest version of the IMDb app (IMDb TV available on iOS app versions 9.13 and higher and Android app versions 8.0 and higher).

If you're experiencing playback issues with IMDb TV via the IMDb desktop website, please first review the Prime Video System Requirements for Computers

Please then try the following steps:

  • Restart your device
  • Ensure that your device and app/web browser have the latest updates
  • Pause other internet activity – especially if other devices are using the network at the same time
  • Check your internet connection
  • Disable any VPN or proxy servers


If you've confirmed that your device, app/web browser, and internet connection meet the minimum requirements and are still experiencing playback issues, please contact our Customer Service team for further assistance. While logged into your IMDb account, select IMDb Fan/Contributor questions > Images & video > IMDb TV (if you are logged out of your IMDb account, please select IMDb Fan/Contributor questions > IMDb TV), then select "Email" to provide us with further information.
