Featured Video Page Display FAQs

How does IMDb decide which featured video displays at the top of a name page?

The featured video that displays on the top of the name page is decided based on a few factors, such as 'Known for' and video type.

Please note, only videos associated (and already present in your video gallery) with your name will be used in this logic - you can request new videos be tagged to your name via our Contact Form

The priority order in which the video types are selected:

  1. Videos related to the Known for title
  2.  First interview by recency of addition
  3. Then first trailer by recency of addition
  4. Repeat for videos related to Known for titles #2, #3, #4
  5. Interviews
  6. TV Programs
  7. Trailers
  8. Clips
  9. Demo reels

Within the types above, there are other factors that influence the selection:

Trailers
These are ordered by the most recent primary title year.

Interviews
These must include the name of the person in the title or description.

If none of the above types of video are present then there will be no featured video on the name page. Unfortunately due to technical convention the featured video cannot be changed outside of the above logic.

If a video is incorrectly assigned to a name page, you may report these cases via our contact form selecting IMDb Contributor > I need help and haven't submitted an update > Images & video > Remove or update videos and our data editors will be happy to take a look. However please note that any video ordering or slate change requests raised for purely stylistic reasons will not be actioned.
