Featured Video Page Display FAQs

How does IMDb decide which featured video displays at the top of a name page?

The featured video that displays on the top of the name page is decided based on a few factors, such as 'Known for' and video type.

The priority order in which the video types
are selected:

1.
Videos related to the Known for title #1

  • First interview by recency of addition
  • Then first trailer by recency of addition

2. Repeat for videos related to Known for titles #2, #3, #4
3.
 Interviews
4.
 TV Programs
5.
 Trailers
6.
 Clips
7.
Demo reels

Within the types above, there are other factors that influence the selection. Trailers are ordered by the most recent primary title year and interviews must include the name of the person in the title or description. Please note that only videos with a minimum slate width of 640 pixels are considered and any video set to mature will be excluded. If none of the above types of video are present then there will be no featured video on the name page. Unfortunately due to technical convention the featured video cannot be changed outside of the above logic.

If a video is incorrectly assigned to a name page, you may report these cases via our contact form selecting IMDb Fan/Contributor questions > Images & video > Remove/update videos and our data editors will be happy to take a look. However please note that any video ordering or slate change requests raised for purely stylistic reasons will not be actioned.
