Filmography Credits

Eligible Credits

Though we try to be as comprehensive as possible when it comes to filmographies, IMDb pages will only include information that fits with our current listing criteria.

Eligible titles

IMDb is centered around titles. This means that we can only add your credits to existing titles (by 'existing' we mean that the title needs to be already present in IMDb; we do list titles of films that haven't been released or completed filming yet, though there are some restrictions on those).

Therefore if you wish to add a credit to your filmography for a title that we do not list at present, you need to submit an addition for the new title first.

The details of the format of titles, the eligibility rules and the option to actually create the new title are included in our new titles guide.

Please read this guide very carefully and pay special attention to the eligibility criteria. Additionally, note that we require a minimum amount of information on a new title in order to verify it. Adding a 'bare' title (i.e. a title with no other information or credit) won't work: we need enough details to verify that title does indeed exist and is valid.

IMDb retains the right to reject any work whose eligibility according to the rules is dubious or/and not verifiable. This may include works which are in their very first development stages. They may be rejected at that stage but accepted later on when they are actually finished and released.

Eligible Credits

IMDb currently lists credits for these categories of titles:

  • Films (feature and short)
  • TV movies (also known as MOWs, short for "Movie of the Week")
  • Made for Video Movies
  • TV specials
  • TV/Web series/mini-series
  • Online videos
  • Videogames/Apps
  • Music videos
  • DVD extras
  • Commercials

Please see the Title formatting guide for the details on the types of titles currently accepted on IMDb.

There are certain types of credits that we do not list unless they are specifically credited on-screen: these include work on marketing elements of a title (work on key art, trailers etc.), or on non-theatrical versions (e.g. DVD authoring, supplemental materials, captioning etc.), or on localized releases (dubbing, dialogue translation/editing on foreign versions etc.). We do not list these credits unless the person has received an on-screen credit for their work in the original version of the title. These details may be added to the other works biography section, or alternatively IMDbPro members can add these to the additional credits section of the name page. Some common acting categories such as "Special Skills" may fall into the "Trivia" section of a biography.

Tracking your contribution

You can now track the status of your Credit submission and if it has not been approved, we'll tell you the reason why.

If you are using the mobile apps, mobile website or desktop website you can access this feature via the 'Track your contribution' button, which has been added to the submission email receipt. Additionally, if you are using the desktop website, you can also use the 'Track Contribution' button now found in your contribution history page.

Clicking this button will take you to IMDb Contributor, our new contribution specific site where you will be shown the status of your request.
